Vegan Multivitamin and Mineral Powders
There are a number of great multivitamin and mineral powders available, including those that supply some carbs, protein, and fats along with the other nutrients. Not all green food powders are made equal however, and this is one category where you definitely need to look out for those hidden non-vegan substances on products that like to label themselves as misguidedly vegan. Beware.
Wholefood Optimising Powders
Tru-Food Whole Food Vegan Meal Natural – 1 kg From NOW Foods, this one is more of a hwolefood optimiser like the sequel Vega product as it contains a nice 26g of protein per serving, along with fibre, healthy essential fatty acids, and lots of vitamins and minerals. Unfortunately, again, it is low in things like B6 (just 2mg per serving!), and the vitamin C is a paltry 60mg, so you’ll probably want to top it up with fruit juice for the extra C, and maybe have a B Vit complex on top of it. Great amount of Calcium though (1100mg) and magnesium at 400mg per serving.
Nature’s Way Alive! Whole Food Energizer, Ultra-Shake, Vanilla flavour gives a nice amount of calcium, magnesium, D2, and the B vits amongst others, and all in easily absorbable forms. It also contains 16g of protein per serving, although it is soy protein, so may not be suitable for all.
Vegan Multivitamin and Mineral Green Powders
A great wholefood multivitamin and mineral powder is available from All One called Green Phyto Base, with lots of calcium and magnesium, a decent amount of B Vitamins and other vitamins per serving, and is vegan to boot! Highly recommended, with lots of bioflavonoids and other co-factors in there to help with absorption.
Spirulina Pacifica Powder is a great natural way of getting all the essential amino acids along with some B12, and a whole host of other vitamins and minerals. It doesn’t supply all of your daily nutrient needs so would be more of an added extra to another all-round multivitamin powder or supplement.
